Hoarse voice denoising for real-time DSP implementation: continuous speech assessment
نویسندگان
چکیده
Voice hoarseness is mainly related to airflow turbulence in the vocal tract. It can be due to vocal fold paralysis, polyps, cordectomisation or other dysfunction, which alter regular speech production, and is commonly treated as a noise component in the speech signal. A denoising approach is proposed, based on low-order singular value decomposition (SVD) of matrices whose entries come from sampled speech data frames, properly organised. A prototype DSP board implementing the procedure was developed. Objective quality indexes are proposed, showing the results achieved with the proposed method both on vowel and consonantal sentences.

متن کاملComparison between AR and SVD approaches for speech denoising
For pathological voices, hoarseness is mainly due to jitter and air flow turbulence in the vocal tract. In this paper, speech denoising is performed in time-domain, by means of a fast and reliable subspace approach. A low-order singular value decomposition allows separating the signal and the noise subspace of an appropriate data matrix, obtained from short data frames. The filtered signal is r...
متن کاملA digital signal processor implementation of silent/electrolaryngeal speech enhancement based on real-time statistical voice conversion
In this paper, we present a digital signal processor (DSP) implementation of real-time statistical voice conversion (VC) for silent speech enhancement and electrolaryngeal speech enhancement. As a silent speech interface, we focus on nonaudible murmur (NAM), which can be used in situations where audible speech is not acceptable. Electrolaryngeal speech is one of the typical types of alaryngeal ...
متن کاملVoice Command II: A DSP Implementation of Robust Speech Recognition in Real-World Noisy Environments
The \Voice Command" system, designed for isolated word recognition tasks in real-world noisy environments, was implemented on a xed-point DSP board to operate in real-time. Simple auditory model, i.e., zero-crossings with peak amplitudes (ZCPA) model, is used for noise-robust feature extraction , and neural network classiier recognizes input patterns. The system performance is further improved ...
متن کاملEfficient implementation of ITU-t g.723.1 speech coder for multichannel voice transmission and storage
Dual-rate G.723.1 speech coder has been widely applied to real-time video and teleconferencing applications where reduced bandwidth and good voice quality is required. This paper presents an efficient implementation of G.723.1 speech coder. To simplify the excitation quantization procedure which is the most computationally demanding, we propose fast algorithms for adaptive codebook and fixed co...
